MUNICIPAL CLIENT: A local government faced with a pending corporate transaction that threatens the community’s quality of life and resident safety retained one of our principals to build and run a comprehensive issue campaign to derail necessary federal regulatory approval. We devised and implemented a plan to build a stakeholder coalition that included: developing a budget; creating the strategy, tactics, messaging, and on-going internal and external communications to raise awareness and influence the debate with regulatory authorities and federal elected officials. The company lamented publicly over the amount of money and time its senior officers have had to invest to combat our efforts -- efforts that have ultimately led to a congressional review of federal law regulating corporate transactions of this type, as well as unprecedented levels of mitigation funding by the company.
